Project summary and main objective
The shift expansion of the IoT platforms enforces multiple requirements such as low-latency or secure data processing resulting in the research and development of Edge analytics. To balance multiple trade-offs, Big data analytics, and data science through ML trends, Cloud/HPC systems are interconnected with IoT Edge devices resulting in a hybrid ecosystem that is called Computing Continuum.
In this context, a Virtual Laboratory (VLab) that share resource and create reproducible use cases are relevant for institution collaboration and knowledge sharing.
The overall objective of the DACISLab project is to strengthen Romanian and Moldavian research in the field of Computing Continuum, supporting through open data and open science both scientific communities and non-scientific stakeholders (e.g., companies, individuals, and authorities).
To this end, the best Romanian university in computer science, UNSTPB, and a strong player in the applied distributed systems field, will be at the core of this project, in a consortium that includes the top-level, impactful, internationally leading research group in data science from Moldova (UTM).
We will build a VLab of Excellence in Research on Continuum computing with the initial consortium partners and create a roadmap to extend it with new collaborators interested in this research area (academic, industry, and educational organizations, in multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary fields) using the concept of open data and open science.
